International Students

Student Spotlights: Rasmus Jonsson

Meet Rasmus!

Rasmus Jonsson

My name is Rasmus Jonsson and I recently graduated from CSUMB with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in International Business & Management. I am originally from Sweden, but I moved to the United States back in 2016 to pursue a college degree and play D1 college soccer.

CSUMB and California was not my first destination here in the states. I began my education and college soccer career at the University of Central Arkansas. I spent two and a half fantastic years in Conway, Arkansas. My memories and experiences from Arkansas are something that I will always cherish and remember.

Halfway through my junior year, an opportunity came up to transfer to CSUMB and California to finish up my education and soccer career in beautiful Monterey. This was something I wanted to try, and I can honestly say that my transfer is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The school’s location is second to none, and the high level of education is also something that I have really enjoyed and appreciated.

My favorite thing about CSUMB is, as mentioned, above its unique location. Just a five minutes walk from campus and you are on the beach. The school is only a short car ride from the beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea and scenic Bixby Creek Bridge (known from the TV-show “Big Little Lies”). The International Programs department at CSUMB also arranges several trips throughout the school year to San Francisco and San Jose.

Finally, after I graduated from CSUMB in May 2020, I got accepted to American University and Kogod School of Business located in Washington D.C. I will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Sustainability Management. This would never have been possible without all the amazing professors and faculties at CSUMB. I can sincerely recommend CSUMB, you will not regret it.
