Faculty are encouraged to attend the Commencement exercises in support of the students. Special seating near the stage is available for all faculty. It is anticipated that faculty will wear regalia.
You can order regalia. Regalia orders are due April 13th.
Banner Bearers must check in at the soccer field in full regalia no later than 9AM for the morning ceremony and 2PM for the afternoon ceremonies. After you check in, you will gather near your banner and students graduating in that major.
As the students are directed to their seats, the Banner Bearers move to the front sides of the stage, face the audience and wait through the welcome. After the National Anthem has been sung, acting in unison, Banner Bearers will post the banners into banner holders (a black wooden plank with pre-drilled holes located in front sides of the stage platform) and then move to their seats. There will be no formal announcement for the banners to be posted. We will have reserved seating for banner bearers that will read, "RESERVED FOR BANNER BEARER."
Ocean Hall (bldg 86) will be open for all faculty at 8:00 a.m. for the morning ceremony and at 1 p.m. for the afternoon ceremonies. Here you can change into your regalia if you have not already done so. When you are in full regalia, head over to the front of the Freeman Stadium.
Multilingual welcomers will march in the procession along with the faculty and proceed to seats in right-hand side of reserved faculty seating (first or second row). The welcomers should proceed directly to the mic as you will give your welcome directly following Dr. Pat Tinsley McGill's welcome. Please take your seat after stating the following greeting in a native language:“I would like to welcome you to the twenty-first Commencement Ceremony at California State University, Monterey Bay.”
This year CSUMB will be hosting three commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 to celebrate the largest graduating class in our history. It's an exciting time for the students and their families and you can be a part of this special day. We are in need of ticket takers, greeters, ushers and so much more. If you are able to help, and have discussed this opportunity in advance with your supervisor, please sign up using the form below.
Once you have registered, you will receive confirmation of your assignment; in the coming weeks, you'll be receiving more detailed information as far as what to wear, where to park, what time you're needed, etc. Thank you again for all your help. Please do not hesitate to email the Commencement Staffing Coordinator, Christina Rocchi (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions.
