CSUMB has 89 student veterans and over 200 military dependents currently attending classes. The Student Veteran Services Office & Campus Veterans Resource Center support both student veterans and military dependents enrolled at CSUMB. We assist eligible students in applying for State and Federal Educational Benefit programs designed to support their educational pursuits. We connect with, verify status and support ALL students who self- identify as veterans or military dependents on their CSU application during their first semester at CSUMB.
Due to our close work with this student population, we have noticed that although many of our students are eligible for educational benefit support, none of these programs offer additional financial support to assist full time students who may experience a medical or family emergency, challenges with transportation, food or housing while studying with us at CSUMB.
It is our goal to raise and maintain a $5,000 Emergency Fund for CSUMB student veterans and military dependents. Once established, this fund will provide ‘one time’ emergency financial support to eligible veteran and military dependent students on our campus.
