Welcome to the RAFT!
Otter Days is a series of in-person and virtual events starting on Friday, August 19 for all new and returning students. Not only are the events fun, but you'll learn a lot about the school, make new friends that will help you have a successful start to the school year.
Need information about Otter Days events? Stop by on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20 to the Otter Days info booth outside of the Otter Student Union from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. to speak to one of our orientation leader staff and learn how to get connected and where to go for Otter Days events.
Move-In Day #1: First Year Housing and Area Two
2-3 p.m. | Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library
Join CSUMB administrators, staff, and faculty at this reception designed just for you! This is the last big event for supporters before departing from campus after move-in. This is the place for supporters to grab a snack and drink, and to interact with campus!
5-6 p.m. | Otter Student Union
New students are invited to come to the Otter Days Kickoff to meet their Otter Days Leader and group and get an overview of how to get involved in the start of the semester.
6-7:30 p.m. | Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library
Do you spend way too much time on your phone? This year's common read book, "How to breakup with your phone" explores our relationship with technology. Learn how to discuss and connect with peers in a classroom environment prior to the start of the academic semester.
7:30-9 p.m. | Main Quad
Take a break from unpacking and enjoy some FREE ice cream. This is an opportunity to meet new people, hang out with old friends, and have some fun before the school year begins!
8 p.m. - Midnight | Otter Student Union
Explore all that the Otter Student Union building has to offer as well as enjoy some free food, great music, and fun interactive events!

Are you new to campus and need to know where your classes will be? Meet an Orientation Leader at their chosen location to go on a class finding tour to make sure you know where you need to go when you start classes. Any student who has not been to campus before is welcome to attend, not just new students for Fall 2022!

1-4 p.m. | Recreation Field
You Otter Play.. Come join the CSUMB Recreation team in celebrating our annual #CSUMBRecFest highlighting health, wellness and recreation opportunities for CSUMB students on and off campus. This event will host our Sports Clubs, Intramural Sports, Outdoor Recreation, and Otter Cycle Center. This an awesome chance to make some new connections with the CSUMB community and find ways to recreate, have fun, and live healthy.

New students for Fall 2022 are invited to attend their Convocation Ceremony before classes start for the Fall semester. At this session, new students will hear from campus representatives to kick off the semester and have the opportunity to interact with others in their cohort. Register for the event today!

Live acoustic-style performance in the Otter Student Union.
7-9 p.m. | Otter Student Union BallroomBring your singing voice and your dancing shoes or neither and be ready to have a good laugh and some fun. Karaoke hosted by our Inter-Club Council. There will be snack, prizes, and a good time to be had by all.

The Otter Cross Cultural Center (OC3) Block Party brings together the CSUMB campus and the broader community to share knowledge and resources. The OC3 Block Party includes several cultural performances and tabling from student affinity organizations, community, and campus partners. The event provides opportunities for new students to learn about the campus and local community and how they can get involved. The OC3 Block Party is a community coming together.

Join Health and Wellness Services staff and students to learn more about support services at CSUMB. Each participant will be able to plant and take home a succulent to brighten up their living space.

Join Recreation for our free Friday Mountain Bike Rides. You will get a free bike rental, helmet. We lead "No Drop Rides", which means that you will never be left behind, EVER. We will take you on a ride from the Otter Cycle Center to the Fort Ord National Monument only 1.5 miles away. With over 82 miles of trails, each ride will be different and tailored to the group's ability.

Feeling artsy? Come on over to create, craft, and connect with your fellow Otters! We'll provide the supplies, you provide the creativity.
