Housing Accommodations

Types of Housing Accommodations

  • Housing Eligibility with Reduced Academic Course Load
    • Students may request eligibility for student housing when enrolled in less than the required minimum number of course units.
  • Facility Modifications
    • Some student housing facilities have been modified to provide restroom accessibility features such as grab bars and roll-in showers or shower seats for students with physical disabilities. Visual alarms for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students are also installed in some areas.
    • Any additional facility modifications should be requested through the SDAC accommodations request process.
  • Attendant Care
    • Students who need personal care attendants must plan to recruit, hire, and manage their care. CSUMB does not provide attendant or personal care.
    • Contact SDAC to clarify procedures for allowing personal attendants in the s student housing and for the permission to be issued a key to a student’s room.
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) in Monterey County
    • The Monterey County Department of Social Services may be able to assist students with disabilities through a state-wide program. Students on Social Security Insurance may expedite eligibility.
    • The In-Home Supportive Services program assists low-income elderly and disabled adults and children to remain safely in their own homes. The program pays the wages for a helper (provider) to come into the home to do housekeeping, laundry and personal care, shopping for groceries and other essentials, meal preparation and clean up and medical transportation. IHSS staff work closely with the staff of the Public Authority for In-Home Supportive Services to assist clients to find a provider.
