Love Data Week is an annual event promoted by research data specialists across the United States and around the world. Attend one of our free workshops or check out one or more CSUMB library books and ebooks on data skills, data visualization, and data analysis programs.
Open to students, staff, and faculty. All student workshop attendees provided with a Certificate of Completion. Check with your instructor to verify a workshop qualifies as extra-credit for your class.

Analyzing Qualitative Data (text) Using SAS-Enterprise Miner.

Need to analyze large volumes of text? Whether you’re a student, researcher, or professional conducting social media research, marketing research, or some other text-heavy analysis, this workshop will take you through the steps necessary to analyze textual data using the free (for academics) cloud-based program SAS Enterprise Miner—no software download necessary.

Introduction to a Free Alternative for SPSS

Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) is one of the most user-friendly statistical software programs available for researchers. However, SPSS is not free. In this workshop, we will introduce an alternative program that is free, PSPP. You will learn about the PSPP environment for data management and basic data analysis (descriptive statistics), including data structure and output interpretation. No prior experience required.

Searching for Data and Statistics: Tools and Techniques

Join us as we first define the difference between statistics and data, then take a look at some standard statistical sources as well as a few popular data sets. We will also touch on a couple of useful data and statistical search strategies.

Making your Projects Reproducible Using R Markdown

Whether you use R, SAS, or Python, it is possible to use R Markdown to generate a reproducible report that is easily updated, formatted, and shared. We will go through the basics of getting started with R Markdown. To get started, create a FREE account on RStudio Cloud (https://rstudio.cloud/) before Thursday. No R experience necessary!
