International Students

How to make payments

The following is information for international and National Student Exchange (NSE) students.

International students must pay by the standard university-posted deadlines.

  • CSUMB has contracted with Flywire to offer an innovative and streamlined way to make a payment from your home country.

Founded by a former international student, Flywire’s mission is to save money for international students and their families that would otherwise be lost on bank fees and unfavorable foreign exchange rates.

    1. Log in to your CSUMB Dashboard/OASIS to make your payment
    2. From the main menu select, Self-Service, Student Center and then Finances
    3. Under the finance tab, Select the “Make a Payment” link
    4. In CashNet, Click “Make a Payment” on the left side column
    5. Select the type of payment you would like to make
    6. Enter the payment amount and click “Add to payment”
    7. Either click “Add more” if you have additional items to pay or “Pay Now” if that is the only item. Click “Continue”
    8. You will then be given four payment options. For FlyWire, select “International Payment”. Click “Continue”
    9. Click International Payment. This will take you to the Flywire page to begin the payment process
    10. Enter the country you will be sending funds from and the amount you will be sending to CSUMB in USD
    11. Then select your preferred payment method from the options provided. Options may include bank transfer, debit/credit card in your home currency, electronic payment, or other local options.
    12. Enter some basic information to initiate your payment booking
    13. Follow the instructions provided to send funds to Flywire. For bank transfers, follow the instructions provided to send your funds. Depending on your bank, payment may be made online, in person, or over the phone. For debit/ credit card payments, enter your card details online to complete your payment in your home currency.

Note: Additional local payment options may be available depending on the country you are paying from.

    14. Track your payment by logging into your Flywire account at any time. Receive text and email status updates each step of the way, including a confirmation when your payment has been delivered to your institution.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or a Flywire representative.

There is also a common and deceitful scam wherein a company falsely claims that it is representing the IRS (the U.S. Federal tax institution, the Internal Revenue Service). The company may call multiple times, leaving scary recordings stating that thousands of dollars are owed and that the call must be returned to avoid further penalty. In reality, it is extremely unlikely that you will be contacted by the IRS. In the highly unusual circumstance where this would happen, you would be contacted via posted mail.

    Note that the IRS:

    • Never asks for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone.
    • Never insists that taxpayers use a specific payment method to pay tax obligations.
    • Never requests immediate payment over the telephone and will not take enforcement action immediately following a phone conversation.
    • Taxpayers usually receive prior notification of IRS enforcement action involving IRS tax liens or levies.
