College of Education Drs. Cathi Draper Rodriguez and Casey McPherson Volunteer Their Expertise to Support Paradise Fire Victims
The College of Education is proud to recognize Dr. Cathi Draper Rodriguez, Chair of the Education and Leadership Department and School Psychology program faculty, and Dr. Casey McPherson, School Psychology program faculty, for their contributions in helping Butte County residents. The recent wildfire that devastated Paradise and other parts of Butte County created a tremendous need for mental health support for all of the victims of the wildfires, especially students and school staff.
The California Association of School Psychologists (CASP) organized an effort to bring volunteer mental health providers who are licensed and credentialed to work with children and youth on school sites and in the community. Dr. Draper Rodriguez and Dr. McPherson answered that call and were in Butte County, Monday, November 26th and Tuesday, November 27th to provide the needed support to residents affected by this tragedy.
On behalf of the College of Education and California State University Monterey Bay, I want to thank our colleagues who volunteered of their expertise to support our fellow Californians. Their efforts exemplify our values and who we are as a College and a University.
