Military Leave

Under the Military and Veterans Code, eligible CSU employees normally receive up to thirty (30) calendar days of CSU pay in a fiscal year for active duty military service. Under certain circumstances employees on Military Leave may receive additional benefits and pay per CSU policy and Federal Rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERA). If you enlist, or are otherwise called to active duty by any branch of the Armed Forces, a Military Leave of Absence will be granted in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Military Service Credit - SB 294

All new employees upon hire and those employees returning from a military leave of absence are entitled to purchase their active duty military service credit. The CalPERS Request for Service Credit Information-Military Leave of Absence Service (PERS-MDS-369A) Form is required. It is the responsibility of the employee to execute this process with CalPERS. Military spouse/domestic partner leave

Spouses or Domestic Partners of an active member of the Armed Forces of the United States who has been deployed during a period of military conflict may request leave to spend time with their military family member while on military leave. When the military person is on leave from deployment, CSUMB may grant a Spouse/Domestic Partner up to 10 days of leave to a qualified employee. The employee may utilize his/her available sick or vacation leave credits, CTO or personal holiday. However, if the employee chooses not to use his/her available leave credits they may take the time unpaid. Specific criteria must be met prior to taking leave.
