Council Meetings
Staff Council meetings are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month. Guest speakers are invited to encourage information exchange regarding budget, shared governance, or a variety of projects and programs on campus.
The 16 Staff Council Members meet on the first Wednesday of every month.

2023-2024 All Staff Meetings
On Wednesday, May 15 from 12:10-1:50 come to the Alumni & Visitor Center to learn about our campus' Emerit Policy (its not just for faculty!), hear year-end reports from both the Chair and Treasurer, and meet your new Staff Council representatives and officers for 2024-2026. Refreshments will be provided.
On April 17 Staff gathered in Room 1180 of the Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library to meet the candidates for divisional representation and executive committee roles for the 2024-2026 Staff Council. We also heard from our Campus Wellness Coordinator, Lisa Leininger, and distributed pre-ordered Staff Council T-shirts. Light refreshments were provided.
President Vanya joined us to provide updates related to Commencement 2024, Admitted Otter Day, Strategic Planning, and the new brand launch.
We were also joined by Matt McCluney, Associate Director of Campus Planning, who shared updates regarding improvements to existing dorms, new dorms, and a new academic building.

President Vanya Quinones and Vice President Glen Nelson share news and updates from the budget front in the Screening Room of the CAHSS Building from 12-1pm
On Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 12:00-1:30pm staff members met at the Alumni & Visitor Center to hear about budget updates from VP Glenn Nelson, as well as exciting activities and opportunities planned for spring 2024.
On October 18, Staff were invited to the CAHSS Screening Room (Room 1401 in Building 504) to learn about the resources and support offered from three distinct, but related offices on campus and to have any questions about the work of these offices be addressed by:
- University Ombuds, Johnny Armijo
- Title IX/DHR Director, Raquel Bonilla
- AVP for Human Resources, Cheree Carvalho
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 12:00-2:00pm the CSUMB Staff Council hosted Vice President Glenn Nelson and Team as well as Associate Vice President Aaron Bryant at the Alumni & Visitor's Center. We gained valuable insights concerning the University Budget as well as new developments in Marketing & Communications, as our speakers addressed our questions and listened to our concerns.

This All Staff Council Meeting on August 16 from 12:00-2:00pm in the West Lounge of Building 12, Staff Council put a call out for staff to serve on the CSUMB Staff Council Elections Committee. We also discussed a new process and proposal template for staff to propose new Staff Council Committees.
The CSUMB Staff Council sponsored two events at the campus' Maker's Space located in the Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Libary.
Staff decompressed and bonded over shared triumphs and tribulations, all while creating a variety of colorful crafts over the course of two afternoons on July 19 and July 27, 2023.On June 29, 2023 from 12:00-2:00pm CSUMB Staff came out to the Otter Express to meet the inaugural CSUMB Staff Council. Staff from across campus got to know one another and informally discuss their questions and concerns related to campus culture and the high turnover of staff and administrators.
On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the Office of Inclusive Excellence presented its findings following completion of the campus' second Campus Climate Survey to the CSUMB Staff Council - all CSUMB Staff were invited to attend. OIES Staff facilitated dialogue among staff participants, who shared their reactions, thoughts, and hopes related to the campus climate and culture. More than 70 staff members were in attendance at the inaugural event of the Staff Council, held in the Otter Express.
