Special Reserve

The Special Reserve collection contains material of both academic and non-academic interest. They may include but are not limited to publications produced by California State University System, including CSUMB; materials that effect the Monterey Bay community and/or materials of special interest materials regarding the former Fort Ord. Current CSUMB students, faculty and staff as well as the general public may check out Special Reserve items.

Special Reserve materials may be searched using the CSUMB Library Catalog and limiting by location Special Reserve. View all items on special reserve.

To check out special reserve materials, you will need your photo ID, which will be held if you do not have a current CSUMB ID card.

Due to collection's time-sensitive value and relevance, most material will circulate for 2 hours, however a few items may circulate for 1 day or 3 days.

Special Reserve items may not be renewed by telephone. Renewals must be done in person by the individual who initially checked out the item.

Holds and recalls may not be placed on Special Reserve items.

All Special Reserve items borrowed must be returned directly to the Library Circulation desk. If items are left on study tables, in the book stacks or in the computer labs, the individual who borrowed the item will be responsible for all fines incurred until it is returned to the Library Circulation Desk.

Overdue Special Reserve items are the responsibility of the borrower. See the Overdue, Recall and Replacement Fees Policy. Overdue Special Reserve items will be assessed $.50 per hour not to exceed $20 per item.

Lost or damaged Special Reserve items are the responsibility of the borrower. In such cases the borrower may replace the lost or damaged item with an identical or comparable item as determined by a Librarian, or pay the Library the replacement cost of the book/item (plus a $20 processing fee).

Special Reserve material may be protected by copyright law. The Library assumes the user will comply with U.S. copyright laws.
