Rest Periods (Breaks)

An employee is allowed rest periods each workday of fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours worked. Rest period schedules are determined by the appropriate administrator in accordance with the operational needs of the department, and should be taken in the middle of each work period. Rest periods count towards hours worked. Rest period time cannot be cumulative to replace any portion of a meal period or change the beginning or end of a work day. For more information, go to
