Cal State Monterey Bay offers an excellent education at a very reasonable price. Basic expenses for someone living on campus include tuition and registration fees (classes and usage fees), books and supplies, and room (where you live) and board (what you eat).
For a complete listing of prices, visit our tuition and fees web site at csumb.edu/cost. All fees are subject to change and approval by the State Legislature. Other potential fees may be theft, fire and accident insurance or health insurance.
Students that live at home and commute to Cal State Monterey Bay will pay a similar amount of tuition and fees as students that live on campus. Commuter students pay less per semester because housing costs and meal plans are not included in the totals.
On-campus housing offers students a unique opportunity to make connections within the university community and be steps away from classrooms. Once you have paid your enrollment confirmation deposit you can apply for housing. To learn more about living on campus visit csumb.edu/housing for more information.
Main Campus housing is expecting a wait list for incoming transfer students, as it typically fills up with returning students during Reservation Days. We encourage all those that qualify for East Campus housing to apply. East Campus is only open to students with families, students with a minimum of 90 units, graduate students, or those who are 21+ years and older.
Housing applications are considered complete once the online application has been submitted and a $200.00 Reservation Deposit payment has posted. Students will not be assigned a room assignment if you don't have both an online application and $200.00 Reservation Deposit on file. Please visit csumb.edu/housing for more specifics on applying.
New Student Orientation is the best way to see all that Cal State Monterey Bay has to offer students. You can register for orientation once you have paid your enrollment confirmation deposit and your orientation fees.
For information regarding for Orientation, please visit csumb.edu/orientation for more information.

Cal State Monterey Bay prides itself on its commitment to multiculturalism and multilingual diversity. As part of that commitment, all undergraduate students must complete the World Culture and Language Requirement to demonstrate knowledge of world cultures and the ability to communicate using a language other than English.
In the college environment, you will have close contact with other students in classrooms, residence and dining halls and common spaces. Because of this you must protect yourself and others from the most common communicable disease on college campuses: measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and hepatitis B (HEP B). This is so important to your health that the State of California and Cal State Monterey Bay requires proof of immunization to maintain your enrollment.
- Students are required to proof of immunity against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) prior to enrollment, AND
- All first-time enrollees who are 18 years or younger as of September 1 in the same year they begin fall classes (or for spring and summer sessions - 18 years or younger as of September 1 of the previous year) must also present proof of immunity to hepatitis B.
- The hepatitis B three-shot series must be completed prior to enrolling in the second year.
For information on ways to prove immunity and where to submit your immunization records visit the Campus Health Center.
