CSUMB-KQED Scholarship in Science Media Communication

Funded by the Fuhs Family Foundation

Dr. Fuhs believes in the importance of clearly communicating science concepts to the general public. The Fuhs Family Foundation has provided funding for CSUMB for a one year $10,000 scholarship and a paid summer internship in science communication at KQED Public Media in San Francisco*.

Applications are being accepted now beginning with the 2018 summer internship and scholarship support for the academic year beginning Fall 2018.

Selection Criteria

  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student status by Summer 2018, continuing in Fall 2018
  • Declared Science Major in the College of Science
  • Demonstrated interest in science communication and journalism
  • In good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Application Criteria

  • A 250-word essay identifying their career interests in connection with science communication.
  • The name of a science faculty, who knows the student's work, is informed of the student's interest in the scholarship and internship and will recommend them for this award.
