Molecular Bio student Leah Martin receives award for her research in immunotherapy

Molecular Biology student Leah Martin was awarded an honorable mention for the John C. Johnson Award for Excellence in Student Research this past March at the TriBeta Western Regional District II Convention in Irvine, CA, for her project “Galectin-3 Inhibitor GR-MD-02 Increases CD8 T Cell Infiltration of MCA-205 Tumors”.

Leah conducted her research during a 9 week summer internship in 2016 at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute in Portland, OR. Leah was part of a team led by Dr. William Redmond that examined the impact of immunotherapy drugs on metastatic tumors and the immune response
