About the College of Science
The College of Science offers nine undergraduate, three master’s, and one fully online degree program, plus a certificate program in science illustration. With a geographic location that brings agrarian and aquatic environments together and a wide variety of minors, the College of Science has something for everyone:
Our faculty mentors in Applied Environmental Science focus on preparing students for science, technology and policy careers by building the knowledge, skills, and compassion necessary to promote social and environmental justice, and to enable sustainable communities.
Department of Biology and Chemistry majors learn the fundamentals of ecology and evolution, biochemistry, microbiology and molecular genetics in an approachable, accessible curriculum, while agriculture and soil science majors literally learn their craft in the fields of the Salinas Valley, also known as the “Salad Bowl of the World.”
Marine Science students take advantage of unique programs which enable them to work directly in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, where students study white sharks and so much more, in our estuarine, coastal and oceanic environments.
In the popular computer science programs at the School of Computing and Design, students engineer software, design games, and tackle animation — all against the backdrop of Silicon Valley, just an hour’s drive away.
