Fraternities
Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity
Alpha Sigma Phi is the nation’s 10th oldest Fraternity, founded at Yale University in 1845. Our Mission is to be the co-curricular and continuing organization of choice. Our Motto is to Better the Man. We achieve this by giving our undergraduates the best experience possible and help them develop academically, personally, professionally, and socially. By doing so, we have been able to be the fastest growing fraternity in the world for the last five years.

Gamma Zeta Alpha
In 1987, fifteen men founded Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity, Inc., aiming to support Latino students in higher education through leadership development, academic scholarship, and cultural support. Recognizing the limitations of other student organizations, they established the fraternity to fulfill these goals, focusing on academic excellence, community service, and the maintenance of Latino culture through brotherhood. For over three decades, Gamma Zeta Alpha has cultivated leaders and strengthened the Latino community, consistently delivering quality programs that benefit their institutions and surrounding areas.
Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc.
Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. was initially founded by Latinx individuals from Cal Poly Slo who sought brotherhood and "Carnalismo" in a community that alienated them. They laid out the foundation of an organization that would help students, many of whom are first-generation college students, be successful in college, and continue higher education. Brotherhood and culture continue to be a central part of NAK; we learn from each other and our struggles to change and break barriers for the various communities we come from. Our three pillars are Academics, Culture, and Brotherhood.

"Unrecognized" Organizations
"Unrecognized" groups like the ones listed below have no relationship with the University. The organizations and their members do not receive any support or advisement from the University. Unrecognized clubs may not participate in any university-sponsored activity. Students, Departments, sports clubs, student organizations, and other organizations should avoid joining or collaborating with any of the groups listed below.
The University does not have a relationship with these organizations, some of which is due to significant and serious concerns over the health and safety of our students and university community, and the University would strongly discourage maintaining or seeking membership in these organizations. Students, organizations, and campus departments who interact or seek affiliation with these organizations do so at their own risk.
For inquiries regarding the status of a specific organization, please contact Dr. Denise Tambasco at dtambasco@csumb.edu.

Guide to Going Greek
This is a guide to help you learn more about the specific details on joining the CSUMB Greek community. Please email greeklife@csumb.edu if you have additional questions. We look forward to you joining our CSUMB Greek community!
Step 1: Meet the Greeks
Every semester, each fraternity and sorority host a table at Meet the Greeks. Students who are interested in Greek Life can meet all Greek organizations on campus and find out more about each organization's values and programs.
Step 2: Get Involved
There is no minimum or maximum number of fraternity/sorority hosted events that you are required to attend. You can attend events hosted by any organization. We highly encourage you to meet as many organizations as possible to ensure you find your best fit. If you can't attend an event, contact the chapter president to express your interest and request more information.
Step 3: Ask About Requirements
Each Fraternity and Sorority has different requirements for joining their brother/sisterhood. They will inform you of these requirements during their events. These requirements usually include a GPA above a 2.5, minimum service hours, involvement on campus, and annual chapter dues. Chapter dues varies for each chapter.
Step 4: Be Your Authentic Self!
Joining a fraternity or sorority is an important decision because these potential brothers/sisters will be your lifelong CSUMB family. If you don't feel a connection with one group, try another to ensure that the organization is right for you.
