Student Success Retreat on May 22
April 10, 2024
At Cal State Monterey Bay, every staff and faculty member has a role to play in supporting student success. Join us at the inaugural Student Success Retreat from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the Otter Student Union Ballroom
This retreat will allow us to engage in a critical dialogue. We will examine the barriers to student success and create a course of action that will strengthen our foundation for supporting our students in achieving their educational and career goals.
Keynote speaker will be Timothy Renick, the founding executive director of the National Institute for Student Success, who has a proven track record of student success outcomes. Under his leadership at Georgia State University, the university witnessed a 70% improvement in graduation rates and the elimination of the achievement gaps for students of color and from economically disadvantaged households.
Renick will share a “playbook” designed specifically for our university based on data that NISS has collected from CSUMB to enable us to continue to make significant gains with our Graduation Initiative 2025 targets. Participants will hear directly from students to understand how they define success and the ways staff and faculty can better support them. Other panels will feature presentations from faculty and staff on best practices.
This professional development opportunity is free and open to all staff, faculty and MPPs in all divisions. RSVP now
