Recipients of Cal State Monterey Bay’s 2024 Faculty and Staff Fellowship Awards were announced in April. Each winner will receive $1,000. The awards and winners are:

• Callie Chastain Distinguished Staff Award: Susan Mangan, Alumni Relations specialist
• Marylou L. Shockley Faculty Fellowship Tenure/Tenure-Track Award:  Corin Slown, associate professor in biology and chemistry 
• Davis, Froshman, and Shockley Faculty Fellowship Lecturer Award: Erin Stanfield, lecturer in applied environmental science, biology and chemistry, and Cooperative Learning Center Science Learning coordinator

Marylou L. Shockley, interim dean of the College of Business, established the endowed fellowship awards for fellow employees in 2021 through the Foundation of CSUMB. She is the first CSUMB employee to do so.

The Chastain Distinguished Staff Award was established as a posthumous tribute to Callie Chastain, a College of Business staff person who died in 2019 from cancer. The award recognizes staff with commendable and outstanding achievements in job skills and service to the university.

The Shockley Faculty Fellowship recognizes faculty for their teaching and research. The Davis, Froshman, and Shockley Faculty Lecturer Fellowship recognizes lecturer faculty for their teaching and research. The fellowship honors the contributions Shockley and lecturers Carol Davis and Jeff Froshman have made to CSUMB over the years.
