CSUMB Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity Competition

The CSUMB Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity competition is open to faculty within Unit 3. The CSU RSCA Award Program provides $2.5 million in funding for 23 campuses. CSUMB’s FY 24-25 allocation is $42,979 for an estimated seven RSCA awards of up to $6,140 each.

Deadline to submit proposals is 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted. For RSCA guidelines, budget worksheet, and proposal details, visit the InfoReady portal

The CSUMB RSCA awards are intended to support these goals:

  • Development of new, expanded, or enhanced research, scholarship, and/or creative activity projects that will be of significant educational value for you, your field, and/or students
  • Publication, exhibition, and other forms of scholarly dissemination
  • Scholarship that may generate future funding from other sources (eligible faculty)

Eligibility

In accordance with Article 25.6 of the collective bargaining agreement, all faculty Unit 3 employees are eligible.  This category includes instructional faculty, librarians, coaches and counselors.  Please contact University Academic Personnel for questions regarding Unit 3 eligibility. Recipients of funding from the RSCA 23-24 Competition held in 2023 are not eligible to apply.

Award Type

Mini-grants support the variety of expenses necessary to support your research, scholarship, and creative activity.  Funds will be expended in the same manner as other university funds (not Corporation).

Funding

CSUMB’s FY 24-25 allocation is $42,979. There will be an estimated seven CSUMB RSCA awards of up to $6,140 each. The CSUMB RSCA committee may fund less than the requested amount at its discretion. Faculty may submit one individual proposal and one collaborative proposal. Collaborative proposals are still limited to the $6,140 total.
