Submitting Proposals

As we roll-out use of Kuali, software that allows PIs to develop proposals and electronically route them for "signature" approval, PI's should continue to use a Blue Sheet (paper-based proposal development and circulation) until you've been trained to use Kuali. Electronic "signature" approval, via Kuali, is rolling out to Chairs and PIs in Fall, 2017.

Per university policy, proposals must be received by the Sponsored Programs staff five days prior to deadline.

What do principal investigators (PIs) need to do?

Contact SPO as soon as you spot an opportunity you want to apply for. Until you're trained on Kuali (2017), continue using the "old" forms found at: https://csumb.edu/spo/most-frequently-used-forms-policies/. SPO will use our new research administration system, Kuali, in the background (e.g.: on our end) until you're trained.

What should principal investigators (PIs) expect?

Over the course of academic year 2017-2018, PI's will gradually be trained to use Kuali for Proposal Development and "signature" authorization (e.g.: routing to all the authorizing individuals on the "Blue Sheet"). PI's should continue using the "Grant Budget Template" at https://csumb.edu/spo/most-frequently-used-forms-policies/ until further notice.
