Crisis intervention is available 24/7 by calling 831-582-3969.
In the event of an emergency, you or someone you know is likely to hurt themselves or others, is actively suicidal or homicidal, call 911.
- After calling 911, ask for a CIT (Crisis Intervention Trained) Officer to respond
- Alternately you can contact Monterey County Crisis Intervention (888) 258-6029, follow prompt to speak with a Crisis Team Member
- You can also take the person directly to the emergency room of the nearest hospital
Get Help
Call the Personal Growth and Counseling Center 831-582-3969 if you or someone you know needs help dealing with:
- suicidal thoughts;
- severe feelings of panic or overwhelm;
- news of the death or illness of a loved one;
- sexual or physical assault.
The caller should tell the office that there is a need for crisis counseling.
The PGCC is physically located within Building 80, 6012 General Jim Moore, Marina, CA 93933.
Getting Help for Yourself or Someone You Know
- Crisis counseling is available in person at the PGCC Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Crisis intervention is available 24/7 by phone, calling 831-582-3969.
- If you or the person you are concerned about aren’t in crisis but want to start counseling, please call the counseling center during business hours.
- It’s understandable if you are apprehensive about reaching out. Remember, we’re here to support and help you.
- If worried about a friend or loved one, express your concern, listen non-judgmentally, and encourage them to seek help.
- If your friend or loved one is reluctant to get help, call the PGCC to talk to someone about how you can help.

Crisis Support for CSUMB Staff & Faculty
The Personal Growth and Counseling Center offers support to assist with debriefing and processing feelings that arise after assisting students in handling their crisis.
Staff and faculty seeking mental health services are encouraged to connect with their insurance provider or Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
