All Black Gala; Lessons From Ferguson

Sun Feb 10th, 6 to 10 pm, University Center Ballroom

This is a formal event celebrating Black Hxstory and the immense diversity of Black culture and brilliance. This year's program will reflect on the events leading up to Ferguson, MO., as well as engage in cultivating strategies for healing and social transformation. Our keynote speakers are Michael Brown Sr., Marcellus Buckley, and Dr. David Ragland. Tickets: CSUMB Students Free, Staff/Faculty = $5.00, Community = $10.00, VIP = $15. King:  A Filmed Record from Montgomery to Memphis

Tuesday, February 19, 7:00 pm, Part 2

This film chronicles Dr. Martin Luther King’s creation and leadership of the nonviolent campaign in the Civil Rights Movement and follows Dr. King’s journey, from his early days in Alabama, at the forefront of the Monterey Bus Boycott, to the campaign to integrate public facilities in Birmingham in the early 1960s, and the March on Washington during which King delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Monterey Peace and Justice Center, 1364 Fremont Blvd., Seaside. A free public event presented by the Center.
