Medical Services

From urgent care and reproductive health to lab services — accessible care for all CSUMB community members.

About Us

The Campus Health Center (CHC) offers a full range of urgent care, primary care, diagnostic services, and referral services to students, faculty, staff, their dependents, and eligible guests.

Care can be scheduled as in‑person or via telemedicine, using the online appointment scheduler or by calling 831‑582‑3965. Walk‑ins may be accepted subject to availability.

The CHC partners with local providers such as Doctors on Duty (DOD) to extend care beyond regular hours and support after-hours or urgent needs.

Student Health Services

Each semester, students pay the CSUMB Health Services fee to receive the CSU-required basic health services per Executive Order 943.

  • Office visits and general exams
  • Ear cleaning, peak flow testing
  • Common lab tests, including: PAP, CBC, strep, pregnancy, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and more
  • STD/HIV and TB tests
  • MMR and Hepatitis B vaccines
  • Flu shots (free flu clinic offered every fall)

The CHC provides private, personalized care with an emphasis on prevention and self-responsibility that include contraceptive education, complete examination (no charge), PAP (no charge), and other lab tests (at no charge or discounted rates depending upon the test), as well as health counseling.

Please refrain from sexual activity for at least 72 hours prior to your PAP to ensure test accuracy.

As of January 1, 2023, the CHC, as directed in Senate Bill 24, provides abortion by medication services to CSUMB students. The Miscarriage and Abortion Hotline is a free call or text support line for people seeking information and support for their miscarriage or abortion.

The CHC also provides medical counseling for gender-affirming care. Please contact the Campus Health Center at  831-582-3965 for more information.

Condoms are always available at no charge at the CHC.

Birth control refills: PLEASE allow at least a 48-hour notice for birth control or other refills for prescriptions originally prescribed at the CHC. You may call 831-582-3965 to request your refills. Remember to clearly state your name, phone number, and prescription information. The CHC is NOT a retail pharmacy so we are unable to sell over-the-counter medications or devices and can ONLY refill prescriptions that were originally prescribed at this clinic.

Fees for services are due and payable at time of service. The Campus Health Center (CHC) accepts cash, check, Money Order, Visa, Master card, Discover, American Express, and ATM/Debit cards. The CHC is able to bill some PPO medical insurance carriers or provide a statement that the student may submit to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. Unfortunately, the CHC is unable to bill HMOs. See our Fees web page for more information.

Members of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and dependents of students may also access services at the Campus Health Center (CHC), but costs are not covered through the Student Health fee and are not eligible for the discounted student rate. The CHC offers a reasonable fee for all services, and accepts some PPO and other non-HMO insurance plans. Please confirm coverage with your provider prior to receiving services at the CHC.
