The Extent of Inequity in Adjudication: How Do I Fit In?

This presentation looks at the disparate levels of racial and ethnic minorities in the criminal justice system and applies the concept of disproportionate minority contact (DMC) to higher education. It will recognize areas of structural bias in educational environments and lay a foundation for building inclusive environments by concluding with a presentation of action recommendations to track DMC data in higher education.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. To understand that disproportionate contact is measurable and the impact capturing data can have on social change.
  2. To identify the contributions to disparity and recognize the importance of self-influence.
