Disparity in APIA College Achievement

High school and college graduation rates vary greatly within the Asian and Pacific Islander community, which includes a wide range of ethnicity, from Japanese to Laotian to Native Hawaiian. Lumping Asians and Pacific Islanders together into one category could be seen as misleading and "masking" disparities in achievement. Possible factors that may influence a particular group's achievement include the circumstances and timing of their immigration to the U.S., English proficiency of the family unit, and traditional views of higher education.
