About the Associate Vice President
In 2013 Dr. Hiramoto was appointed Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence/Chief Diversity Officer to establish the new office of Inclusive Excellence created by President Ochoa. In this role, Dr. Hiramoto works to strategically embed issues of equity, inclusion and diversity into campus planning, policy and decision making. The Office of Inclusive Excellence partners with faculty, staff, students, and community organizations towards these goals.
Dr. Hiramoto has over 30 years of experience in university administration. She has held a variety of positions including Director of Student Services at the Stanford University School of Education and Director of Equal Employment Opportunity at Cal State Monterey Bay and the University of California, Santa Cruz. In June 2009, she became Chief of Staff to the President at Cal State University Monterey Bay and subsequently served as Vice President of University Advancement.
Dr. Hiramoto earned a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley, an MS in Counseling from San Francisco State University and an Ed.D. in Higher Ed Administration from UC Berkeley. She is active in professional and community organizations and currently serves on the board of directors for the Community Foundation of Monterey County and the American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter.
