Photography at Cal State Monterey Bay reflects a student-centered, inclusive and engaging campus experience. Images should feel natural, warm and authentic, highlighting connection, place and purpose.

Images of campus life emphasize community and connection. Whenever possible, include multiple people to reflect the collaborative and social nature of the university. Focus on genuine interaction, using shallow depth of field to maintain context while keeping people at the center. Natural light and warm tones reinforce a welcoming environment.

Brand Image Library

University Communications maintains a curated collection of high-quality, brand-aligned images through PhotoShelter, the university’s digital asset management system. These photos are available for use in campus communications and reflect the visual style of Cal State Monterey Bay.

Faculty and staff may also contribute images. Photos that align with brand standards can be submitted for consideration through the Photo/Video Submission Form.

Photo Release Forms and Signage

Participants in university-related events should complete photo release forms to allow images to be used in Cal State Monterey Bay communications. Posting photo release signage at events helps ensure attendees are informed.
