The CSUMB College of Health Sciences and Human Services at Cal State Monterey Bay is committed to student success.
CHSHS students have access to a variety of university-wide resources, such as academic support services, wellness resources and more. Within the college, we also have a few specific programs and offerings to help our students thrive academically and socially.
Scholarships and Grants
Cal State Monterey Bay offers a wide range of scholarship opportunities for students of all majors. Among them are awards aimed specifically at students studying health sciences and social services.
We’re particularly proud to offer the Louis Siebenmorgan Scholarship, which was created and funded by our own faculty member, Dr. Jim Raines. This award is geared toward students who were foster children or children of first-generation immigrants.

CHSHS Student Senator
The Cal State Monterey Bay Associated Students Senate contributes to the overall campus experience. This organization includes one representative from each college.
Our 2026-2027 Senator: Gilberto Torres
Gilberto Torres is a Psychology and Biology major with a social work minor. He will be serving as the 2026-2027 senator for the College of Health Sciences and Human Services. Here is a message Gilberto has for our community.
"It is a privilege to serve as your senator for the 2026-2027 academic year. My goal is to work with campus leaders, faculty, staff and Associated students to ensure all students feel heard and supported throughout their time at CSUMB.
As a double major, I have developed an interdisciplinary perspective that guides my commitment to community building and empowering students through education. Both my professional and personal experiences have strengthened the core belief that listening to students and the community is how meaningful change occurs. Through understanding student experiences, we can work together to make a positive impact within the college.
As your senator, I seek to not only elevate the student experience within the college, but also to be an advocate for all student voices. I am committed to ensuring our diverse student body feels represented and making sure student feedback is considered in all experiences at the university.
