CAHSS celebrates global immersion learning with the World Languages & Cultures Study Abroad Photo Contest Exhibit in the CAHSS 504 Gallery.
As taken from the WLC website:
"Internationalization has long been core to the CSUMB student-learning experience. Many of WLC’s students return from study abroad with new understandings of both the world and themselves. This photo contest is intended to share their expanded perspectives with the campus and encourage the next class of global thinkers. "
Students were invited to submit photos from their time abroad for the contest.  A panel of jurors evaluated the submissions based on the following criteria:  Description, Aesthetic, Content, Thematic Alignment, and Overall image consideration.  The winners of the contest included:
  • Grand Prize:  Armando Ruiz, Japanese Language and Culture
  • Outstanding Work:  Koyuki Taishi Alpern, Environmental Studies
  • Remarkable Capture: Levi Mahler, Japanese Language and Culture

A reception was held in conjunction with World Languages and Cultures' Spotlight on Language and Global Competence event.  This event recognized campus community members' participation in study abroad experiences, demonstrated excellence in language proficiency, and engagement in cultural immersion experiences.  The Study Abroad Photo Contest winners were also announced at the event.  For full details, view the WLC Study Abroad Photo Contest Page.

The exhibit is on display now through the end of May in the CAHSS 504 Gallery (if driving, please enter 3050 Divarty Street, Seaside CA, 93955 in your GPS to find our building).  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm, always free admission (but parking permits on campus are required).  We invite you to stop by and enjoy our students' work.
