2016 Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholarship Awardee
Karina Ruiz
Karina Ruiz, UROC Scholar and Human Communication major, was announced as one of the 2016 Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholars. Karina was one of 73 students chosen out of 235 applications. As part of her award, Karina will receive a scholarship to support her path to a PhD and is eligible to participate in a 2017 research experience at a University of California or another doctoral-granting institution.
Karina was awarded a summer research experience at UC Berkeley through the CSU Pre Doc Program in Summer 2017 and will begin the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Ph.D. program at UC Santa Cruz in fall 2017.
