Academic Calendar by Term
Each term at Cal State Monterey Bay comes with key deadlines for registration, payments, course changes and more. Use this page to find the dates you need to know to avoid late fees, stay enrolled, and make informed decisions about your academic progress. Deadlines apply to new students, continuing students, and those preparing to graduate. Be sure to review your term and add key dates to your calendar.
January 5
Last day to pay registration tuition and fees, or have a financial aid extension of payment in place, or have a third party authorization form covering registration tuition and fees on file with Student Accounting. Otherwise, enrollment may be cancelled for non-payment.
January 6
Starting today, payment or a financial aid extension of payment or a third party authorization form covering registration tuition and fees on file with Student Accounting is required prior to registration. This includes students whose enrollment may have been cancelled.
Open enrollment begins. Students may add or drop classes; enrollment appointments are not required.
January 16
Student move-in.
January 19
Martin Luther King Jr. Day observed (campus closed).
Last day to officially cancel registration and drop all classes online to receive full refund of mandatory fees.
Last day to register without a $25 late registration fee.
Last day to request a formal Leave of Absence for the Spring 2026 semester.
January 20
Classes begin.
January 20-February 3
ADD/DROP period begins. Students can ADD online through the second week of the add/drop period and DROP classes online. Full/closed classes require permission to enroll; students can add open classes if space is available and they meet all enrollment requirements. For students who drop all classes, tuition and fees will be prorated based on drop date.
February 3
ADD/DROP deadline. Last day to add/drop without a W, request for CR/NC, and to drop from full-time to part-time with full refund of state fee difference.
Last day for faculty to request to drop students for non-attendance or failure to meet course pre-requisites.
February 4
First day to request to withdraw from classes for serious and compelling reasons. (W grade assigned if approved).
Students requesting to add or swap a course after the add/drop deadline must submit a Late Add Petition. All petitions are subject to review.
February 16
Enrollment census date.
February 25
Last day to certify dependent information in OASIS Student Center for Fall
2026 registration
March 2
Summer 2026 class schedule published.
Fall 2026 class schedule published.
March 16
Summer 2026 registration begins for continuing students.

Last day to request to withdraw from all classes for serious and compelling reasons and receive a partial refund of mandatory fees. (W grade assigned if approved).
March 30-April 3
Spring break (no classes).

Cesar Chavez Day observed (campus closed).
April 15
Last day to request to withdraw from classes for serious and compelling reasons. W grade(s) assigned if request approved.
Withdrawal requests submitted after this date will only be considered for extenuating circumstances outside of the student’s control. Students must include documentation to support their request.
May 8
Last day of classes.
May 11-15
Assessment/final exam period.
May 16
Commencement.
May 25
Memorial Day (campus closed).
May 26
Grades due.
Last day for incomplete grades from Spring 2025 to be graded before they lapse to Incomplete charged.
May 27
Grades available in OASIS Student Center as they are posted.
June 15
Last day for Spring 2026 degree candidates to update their diploma name.
Summer classes are offered via State Support and/or the College of Extended Education & International Programs. Different rules, deadlines and fees may apply to students enrolling in summer courses through EEIP.
June 1
Classes begin.
June 19
Juneteenth Day (campus closed).
June 26
Last day of first session.
June 29
First day of second session.
July 3
Independence Day (campus closed).
July 24
Last day of classes and enrollment census.
July 31
Grades due.
August 1
Grades available in OASIS Student Center as they are posted.
August 14
Diploma name update deadline for Summer 2026 degree candidates.
July 31 — Registration payment deadline
Last day to pay registration tuition and fees, have a financial aid payment extension in place, or submit a third-party authorization form covering registration tuition and fees to the Bursar’s Office. Enrollment may be canceled if one of these requirements is not met.
Students who register after this date must immediately pay tuition and fees, have a financial aid payment extension, or submit a third-party authorization form to Bursar’s Office. This also applies to students whose enrollment was previously canceled. Failure to meet one of these requirements may result in cancellation of enrollment due to non-payment.
August 3 — Open enrollment begins
Students may add or drop classes without an enrollment appointment.
Students seeking enrollment through a visitor or special program may begin submitting the required forms or enrollment requests.
August 19 — Student move-in
August 23 — Full-refund cancellation deadline
Last day to cancel Fall 2026 registration by dropping all classes online to receive a full refund of mandatory fees.
Last day to register without a $25 late-registration fee.
Last day to request a Leave of Absence for the semester.
August 24 — Classes begin
August 24–September 8 — Add/drop period
Students may add and drop classes online. Permission is required to enroll in a full or closed class. Students may add an open class if space is available and all enrollment requirements are met.
Students who drop all classes during this period will have tuition and fees prorated according to the date they drop. Visit the Bursar’s Office for refund calculations and information about prorated fees.
September 7 — Labor Day

September 8 — Add/drop deadline
Last day to:
• Add or drop a class without a W
• Request Credit/No Credit grading (if available)
• Change from full-time to part-time and receive a full refund of the applicable state fee difference

September 9 — Withdrawal-request period begins
Beginning today, students must request approval to withdraw from a class. Requests require a serious and compelling reason. A W is assigned if the request is approved.
Students requesting a late course addition must submit a Late Add Petition.

Winter 2027 and Spring 2027 registration begins for continuing students.
October 27 — Prorated-refund withdrawal deadline
Last day to request withdrawal from all Fall 2026 classes for serious and compelling reasons and receive a prorated refund of mandatory fees, if approved. A W is assigned for each approved withdrawal.
This is a refund deadline, not the final academic withdrawal deadline. Students may still request an academic withdrawal after this date, but the prorated refund will no longer apply.
November 11 — Veterans Day
Campus closed
November 18 — Standard withdrawal-request deadline
Last day to request withdrawal from one or more classes for serious and compelling reasons. A W is assigned if the request is approved.
After this date, requests are considered only when extenuating circumstances outside the student’s control prevented an earlier withdrawal. Supporting documentation is required.
