Academic Calendar by Term
Each term at Cal State Monterey Bay comes with key deadlines for registration, payments, course changes and more. Use this page to find the dates you need to know to avoid late fees, stay enrolled, and make informed decisions about your academic progress. Deadlines apply to new students, continuing students, and those preparing to graduate. Be sure to review your term and add key dates to your calendar.
July 31: Registration payment deadline
Last day to pay registration tuition and fees, have a financial aid payment extension in place, or submit a third-party authorization form covering registration tuition and fees to the Bursar’s Office. Enrollment may be canceled if one of these requirements is not met.
Students who register after this date must immediately pay tuition and fees, have a financial aid payment extension, or submit a third-party authorization form to Bursar’s Office. This also applies to students whose enrollment was previously canceled. Failure to meet one of these requirements may result in cancellation of enrollment due to non-payment.
August 3: Open enrollment begins
Students may add or drop classes without an enrollment appointment.
Students seeking enrollment through a visitor or special program may begin submitting the required forms or enrollment requests.
August 19: Student move-in
August 23: Full-refund cancellation deadline
Last day to cancel Fall 2026 registration by dropping all classes online to receive a full refund of mandatory fees.
Last day to register without a $25 late-registration fee.
Last day to request a Leave of Absence for the semester.
August 24: Classes begin
August 24–September 8: Add/drop period
Students may add and drop classes online. Permission is required to enroll in a full or closed class. Students may add an open class if space is available and all enrollment requirements are met.
Students who drop all classes during this period will have tuition and fees prorated according to the date they drop. Visit the Bursar’s Office for refund calculations and information about prorated fees.
September 7: Labor Day
Campus closed
September 8: Add/drop deadline
Last day to:
• Add or drop a class without a W
• Request Credit/No Credit grading (if available)
• Change from full-time to part-time and receive a full refund of the applicable state fee difference

Last day for faculty to request to drop students for non-attendance or failure to meet course pre-requisites
September 9: Withdrawal-request period begins
Beginning today, students must request approval to withdraw from a class. Requests require a serious and compelling reason. A W is assigned if the request is approved.
Students requesting a late course addition must submit a Late Add Petition.

Last day to certify dependent information in OASIS student center for Spring 2027 priority registration
October 5: Winter and Spring schedules published
Winter 2027 and Spring 2027 class schedule published
October 19: Winter and Spring registration begins
Winter 2027 and Spring 2027 registration begins for continuing students.
October 27: Prorated-refund withdrawal deadline
Last day to request withdrawal from all Fall 2026 classes for serious and compelling reasons and receive a prorated refund of mandatory fees, if approved. A W is assigned for each approved withdrawal.
This is a refund deadline, not the final academic withdrawal deadline. Students may still request an academic withdrawal after this date, but the prorated refund will no longer apply.
November 11: Veterans Day
Campus closed
November 18: Standard withdrawal-request deadline
Last day to request withdrawal from one or more classes for serious and compelling reasons. A W is assigned if the request is approved.
After this date, requests are considered only when extenuating circumstances outside the student’s control prevented an earlier withdrawal. Supporting documentation is required.

December 25–January 1: Winter holidays
Campus closed
January 15: Diploma-name deadline
Last day for Fall 2026 degree candidates to update their diploma name.
Winter classes are offered via the College of Extended Education & International Programs (EEIP). Different rules, deadlines, and fees may apply to students enrolling in winter courses through EEIP. Learn more at Winter Session.
December 20: Full-refund cancellation deadline
Last day to cancel Winter registration by dropping all classes online to receive a full refund of mandatory fees.
December 21: Classes begin
December 24: Add/drop deadline
Students may add and drop classes online. Permission is required to enroll in a full or closed class. Students may add an open class if space is available and all enrollment requirements are met.
Students who drop all classes during this period will have tuition and fees prorated according to the date they drop.

Summer classes are offered via State Support and/or the College of Extended Education & International Programs. Different rules, deadlines and fees may apply to students enrolling in summer courses through EEIP. Add/drop dates for classes offered in nonstandard sessions vary based on the class start and end dates. To find the add/drop deadline for a specific class, check the class details in OASIS.
