Retired FBI agent to discuss realities of criminal profiling
Michael Yoder will tackle the often misunderstood subject of criminal profiling during a Tuesday night talk.
Michael Yoder, a recently retired FBI agent, will present “Criminal Profiling: The Reality Behind the Myth” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the Otter Student Union Ballroom.
Yoder will be on campus for three days speaking to psychology classeson various subjects. He will tackle the often misunderstood subject of criminal profiling during his Tuesday night talk.
Psychology professor Kathryn England-Aytes said this is the second time Yoder, a long-time friend of hers, has spoken at CSUMB, but the first since his retirement. In the interim, he worked on sex trafficking and child abuse cases.
“This gives us a chance to look at people who are actually doing the work,” England-Aytes said.
She said most people only know about criminal profiling from what they see on television shows, where it is “all art and no science, and it’s infallible.” The reality is quite different.
She said Yoder may also talk about a cold case in Florida he is currently investigating, utilizing internet sleuths.
Those planning to attend the talk are asked to RSVP.
