Overview

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is required on your CSUMB account. We highly recommend configuring either (or both) of the MFA apps for your account.

  • Okta Verify - users are able to enable push notifications for ease of use and a biometric layer for extra security.
  • Google Authenticator- widely used with other companies and institutions for MFA.

Instructions

Step 1: Download Okta Verify or Google authenticator from the App or Google Play store on your smart phone or tablet. You do not need to open the app.

Step 2:

  • If you haven't set up your CSUMB account yet, click on the link in your account creation email (sent to your email from noreply@okta.com) and you will prompted to set up your account. During that process you will be asked to set up an authentication method. Click the Set-Up button next to Okta Verify or Google Authenticator. This is the end of the instructions for setting up an authenticator app MFA method during the account set-up process.
  • If you have already set up your CSUMB account, log into your Okta Dashboard (csumb.okta.com) with your regular CSUMB username and password. Proceed to step 3.

Step 3: Click Account settings from the profile pull down menu.

Step 4: Scroll down to the Security Methods section and click Setup button next to the app you downloaded in Step 1. Follow the instructions for setting up your authenticator app.
