Masters of Arts in Education

Requirements for our Master of Arts in Education vary by concentration. Please click below to find the requirements for your desired concentration.

Applicants who wish to get their MAE have the option to get either their Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education Credential while earning their Masters, also known as MAE+. MAE+ applicants have the following admissions requirements:

Note: Students in the MAE+ program are not able to pursue the Internship pathway while completing their credential.

Applicants who wish to join the Masters of Arts in Education in the Curriculum and Instruction concentration must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Three letters of Reference/ Cal State Apply recommendation forms 
  • Resume

  • Valid Teaching Credential
  • Professional Goal Statement and Writing Sample

Applicants who join under the Educational Administration program have options leading to the California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.  Students can earn a Masters of Arts in Education while concurrently completing the coursework required for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential. Students who already hold a masters degree can also choose to complete the coursework for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential as a stand alone program. Admission requirements differ based on which option applicants wish to join.

MAE + concurrent Administrative Services Credential

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Administrative Services Credential (Stand Alone)

  • 1 must be from a current administrator at your school site

Educational Specialist in School Psychology

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university, with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Three Reference Letters/Recommendation forms from individuals who can attest to your potential, interest, activity, and past accomplishments relating to pursuing a School Psychology Credential
  • Resume
  • Certificate of Clearance
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance
  • CPR/First Aid (adult, infant, & children)
  • Appropriate STATS or MATH course taken in the past 5 years with a grade of B- or better
  • Evidence of Academic Writing Skills (research paper from Undergraduate program with citations)
  • Interview
  • Essay
