Care Initiatives
Creating and strengthening a CSUMB culture in which each student, faculty and staff member feels seen, valued and connected.
Our Care and Belonging Plans
In alignment with Pillar C of the Making Waves, Transforming Futures Strategic Plan—Cultivating an Inclusive and Engaged Community—our plans center on creating a campus where each student, faculty and staff member feels seen, valued and connected.
Our initiatives focus on:
- Acknowledging and recognizing the contributions of our Otter Raft through regular celebrations, expressions of appreciation, and storytelling (C.3, C.4).
- Encouraging and supporting well-being by empowering community members to take an active role in both their personal wellness and the collective life of the campus (C.1).
- Increasing engagement by strengthening internal connections that foster belonging, collaboration, and mutual care across all divisions and identities (C.2).
These priorities are rooted in our vision of CSU Monterey Bay as a Caring University—a place where respect, empathy, and active inclusion shape daily life. We know that a thriving Otter Culture of Care depends on each person’s sense of belonging and agency, and on our shared responsibility to lift each other up.
