Every CSUMB student’s journey is unique, with opportunities along the way to heighten their academic accomplishments and earn recognition for their hard work. Commencement reflects not only the completion of a degree, but the many achievements that define each graduate’s experience.
A robust celebration of graduates
From Student Awards and Academic Honors to college recognitions and special events, Commencement includes a range of programs that celebrate the dedication, leadership and academic excellence of our graduates. These events recognize outstanding performance in the classroom, meaningful contributions to campus life and the perseverance required to reach this milestone.
Additional ceremonies and programs provide space to honor specific accomplishments, connect with faculty and peers, and celebrate within academic colleges and communities. Together, these events ensure that Commencement is a comprehensive celebration of student achievement across disciplines and experiences.

GradFest
GradFest is a one-stop shop for those preparing to graduate to purchase a cap and gown, order invitations, buy a class ring and more.

Academic Honors
Awarded to students achieving an overall grade-point average of 3.5 and higher, academic honors are based on completion of at least three semesters in residence at CSUMB.

Every year we celebrate the accomplishments of our students and their outstanding achievements. We encourage staff and faculty to acknowledge and celebrate student success by nominating individuals for the awards listed below.

Participants
Faculty are encouraged to attend the Commencement exercises in support of the students. Special seating near the stage is available for all faculty.
