Veterans

Cal State Monterey Bay is proud to support our veterans in their educational endeavors.

Student holding the American flag to honor veterans.

Located at the former Fort Ord, U.S. military history is part of our history. We’re honored to welcome veteran and military-connected students at all stages of their education and careers.

We’re a full participant in the CSU Troops to College Program, and we offer a host of dedicated services for our former and current servicemember students and their dependents.

Admissions & Aid for Veteran Students

Veterans and active-duty military (or spouses) receive admissions priority; however, all applicants must meet all regular upper division transfer requirements: These include:

  • completed a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter units of transferable coursework;
  • an overall college GPA of at least 2.00; your GPA is calculated using all your transfer units attempted;
  • in good standing at the last college or university attended. "Good standing" means you are eligible to re-enroll at your last college or university;
  • completed general education courses (30 semester units or 45 quarter units) of basic skills courses, with a grade of C- or better,

See full upper division transfer requirements.

Veteran students should apply at the Cal State Apply website

Be sure to complete the online application and submit any supplemental materials by the deadline for your desired term.

Once you submit your application through Cal State Apply, you will also receive instructions on how to access your CSUMB dashboard.

College credit may be given for military training or job duties as listed on a veteran student’s official military transcript. Veterans should order their official Joint Services Transcript (JST) or Community College of the Air Force Transcript (CCAF) to be sent to CSUMB when they apply for admission.

The Office of Admissions will determine which credits to assign based on the American Council of Education credit recommendations, along with our own evaluation.

Veteran students and their dependents may be eligible for state and federal education benefits, as well as other tuition assistance programs. Our Office of Veteran Student Services is here to help you explore and certify those benefits.
