Service Learning Institute

Sydney Westerterp

She/They

I have the privilege of serving as the AmeriCorps VIP for the Service Learning Institute at California State University, Monterey Bay. In this role, I engage with the Student Leadership in Service Learning (SL2) program by supporting student leaders as they engage in service with community partners and reflect critically on their experiences. As an alumnus of CSU Monterey Bay and former Service Learning Student Leader, I discovered a deep sense of belonging through service during my time here. I have learned about the importance of community, reciprocity, and the impact we can have where we are. I’m excited to continue this community-oriented journey as an AmeriCorps. When I’m not working, you can find me exploring hiking trails, experimenting with new recipes, enjoying live music, or spending quality time with my loved ones!
