    Course: Introduction and Framing of Sustainability at CSUMB

    Lacey Raak has been the Sustainability Director at CSUMB since 2015. Prior to working at CSUMB, Lacey held the same position at UCSC. Originally from Minnesota, Lacey moved to Monterey to attend the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Lacey was a Fulbright Research Scholar to Indonesia in 2010. Her favorite thing about her undergraduate and graduate experience was thinking new thoughts, meeting new people, and visiting new places while studying abroad (3 times)!

    Rose Ashbach, CSUMB Lecturer: Biology and Chemistry

    Rose Ashbach

    Course: Sustainability and the Natural Environment

    Rose Ashbach's background is in Botany and Habitat Restoration. She has worked doing vegetation surveys, removing invasive species, restoring habitats, and teaching hands-on science education. She is currently working at CSUMB teaching the California Plant Communities class.

    Nancy Faulstich, Regeneración: Executive Director

    Nancy Faulstich

    Course: Sustainability, Justice and Equity

    Director Nancy Faulstich founded Regeneración in 2016 together with a small group of Pajaro Valley residents. Nancy was motivated to work for climate action and resilience upon realizing the plight that younger generations, including her daughter, will face. Her goal was for everyone in the Pajaro Valley to become fully aware of climate change and to move together to address the causes and fight for justice.

    Jo Flemming, Executive Director of the California Green Business Network and Presifent of Environmental Innovations Inc.

    Jo Flemming

    Course: Sustainability and Economy

    Jo has over 30 years of experience in the environmental realm in a wide breadth of scientific research, environmental remediation, commercial/industrial pollution prevention, environmental outcome data, and community-based social marketing programs to address some of the most pressing environmental problems of our time. She has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Minor in Spanish. She has worked to establish numerous Green Business Programs, hundreds of green businesses, and serves as the Executive Director of the California Green Business Network. Jo has lived and worked all over the world.

    Dante DiGregorio, CSUMB Professor: College of Business

    Dante DiGregorio

    Course: Sustainability and Economy

    Dante Di Gregorio (PhD, University of Maryland) is a Professor at CSUMB's College of Business where he teaches courses in Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, and International Business. Much of his teaching, research, and outreach relates to social and environmnetal dimensions of sustainability. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Business Venturing, the Journal of Management Studeies, and the Journal of World Business. Past and ongoing research projects relate to topics such as social and sustainable entrepreneurship, agritourism, international entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship and community development, and youth civic engagement. He has mentored entrepreneurs working in areas such as fair trade, biofuels, agritourism, and local food systems. He has previously served as the Board President of the Partnership for Responsible Business while on faculty at the University of New Mexico. Dante has studied and/or worked in Mexico, Germany, and Austria, and has been involved in coordinating academic programs in or involving Italy, Mexico, Iraq, Ecuador, and China.

    Roberta Atzori, CSUMB Assistant Professor: College of Business

    Roberta Atzori

    Dr. Atzori is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Hospitality Management at CSUMB, College of Business. She currently teaches Ecotourism Management and Sustainable Event Management and is involved in several sustainability-focused projects with her students. Her research interests include sustainable tourism and hospitality, and climate change mitigation and adaptation in tourism destinations and hospitality businesses.

    Jennifer Lovell, CSUMB Assistant Professor of Psychology

    Jennifer Lovell

    Course: Behavior Change for Sustainability

    Dr. Jennifer Lovell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). Dr. Lovell completed her Ph.D. in child clinical psychology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and later specialized in pediatric psychology and infant mental health during postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her primary areas of scholarly interest focus on health disparities, integrated behavioral healthcare, social and cultural factors impacting child and family health and wellness, and prevention and intervention for weight-related problems.

    Ana Hernandez Sr. Dr., CSUMB Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services

    Ana Hernandez

    Course: Wellness and Sustainability

    Ana Hernandez is CSUMB's new Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services, joining the campus in October 2019. She brings over 10 years of experience as an administrator in the health and wellness industry. Most recently she served as the Senior Director of Behavioral Health Services at a non-profit in Napa and Solano county. Her previous higher education experience includes teaching in the College of Business at Montana State University, where she founded the Human Empowered Arts Project and developed with students from multiple colleges at MSU. The program offered upcycling, recycling, and art guides to schools and the community, and was recognized by Montana's EcoStar 2012 program, recognizing Montanians who voluntarily implemented pollution prevention practices. Ana holds a Master's degree in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley.

    Katy Scott, Monterey Bay Aquarium Digital Learning Manager

    Education for Sustainability

    Katy Noelle Scott has worked to integrate STEM and environmental education at the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the past 11 years. Impacting over 85,000 students and 1,000 teachers every year, the Aquarium's world-class education programs influence how science and conservation are taught throughout California. With a focus on project-based learning, student agency, equity, and maker education, Katy has presented at conferences around the country. A former public school teacher, Katy also provides professional development for teachers at area public school districts and volunteers as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.

    Ashley Gauer, Monterey Bay Economic Partnership

    Course: Sustainability in the Monterey Peninsula

    Ashley is the Program Manager on Special Projects at the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP). She leads MBEP's Climate Change, Transportation, and Student Ambassador (Internship) Initiatives, and heads special research projects on the intersections across industries. As a member of CA Forward, she works with state and local policy, business, and community leaders across diverse regions and interests to increase capacity for creating inclusive, sustainable growth for everyone. A former international educator and business owner, she has built schools and programs overseas that focus on increasing economic mobility, sustainable closed-loop systems and community resilience.

    Ashley Paulsworth, County of Monterey

    Course: Sustainability in the Monterey Peninsula

    Ashley Paulsworth is the Sustainability Manager for the County of Monterey and is leading the charge for the County Climate Action Plan for 2030. She has a background in energy technologies and climate policy and has worked with the Department of Energy and multinational corporations to operationalize sustainability practices and programs. Ashley lives in Monterey with her husband and daughter and is passionate about making sustainability a solution

    Dan Fernandez, CSUMB Faculty and Facilitator of the Sustainable City Year Program

    Dan Fernandez

    Course: Sustainability in the Monterey Peninsula

    Dr. Daniel M. Fernandez teaches classes in first-year physics, Sustainability Systems, Environmental Studies Capstone, and Infrastructure Systems. He also co-coordinates the Environmental Studies program at CSUMB. Dr. Fernandez's research focuses on the , studying techniques to assess the presence of fog and to maximize the collection of fog water. Dr. Fernandez is also engaged with campus-wide sustainability initiatives as well as managing the incipient .

    Bruce Delgado, Mayor: City of Marina

     Bruce Delgado | Green Party of California (GPCA)

    Course: Sustainability and the Natural Environment

    Mayor Bruce Delgado is a California native. He was born in 1961 and grew up in the wonderful City of Glendora, 30 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Bruce has lived in Marina since 1996 and works on Fort Ord as a Botanist and natural land manager for the Bureau of Land Management. Bruce's experience has given him an insider's look at Fort Ord reuse thus Mayor Delgado has a deep understanding of Fort Ord's issues and challenges.

    Casey Cushing, Senior Education Specialist: Monterey Bay Aquarium

    Course: Education for Sustainability

    Cushing is a Senior Education Specialist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, teaching school groups and facilitating teacher professional development programs. Cushing was formerly the Head of Lower School at Alta Vista School in San Francisco, where I held a variety of teaching and administrative roles. My research through the University of San Francisco focuses on equity and inclusion outdoor, experiential education. I write children's books with social or environmental themes, and has worked in curricular design and program development. Social-emotional, maker-centered, and interdisclipnary learning are particular passion areas.
