AVP for University Personnel
Natalie King is the Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for University Personnel. In her role, she leads the human resources and academic personnel functions for the university. She is a member of the President’s Cabinet and Extended Cabinet. She is also a member of the Provost’s Executive Academic Leadership Council and the Academic Senate’s Faculty Affairs Committee. She earned her law degree (J.D.) from Marquette University and is certified as SHRM-SCP, IPMA HR-SCP, and in PROSCI Change Management.
Prior to taking the AVP position, King served as the Assistant Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs at San José State University, where she managed labor and employment matters for faculty, librarians, coaches, and counselors; conducted compliance and collective bargaining training; and oversaw the hiring and evaluation processes for temporary faculty.
Previously she has been a faculty member at Santa Clara University Law School, San José State University, William Mitchell School of Law, and the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she taught courses in employment law, legal analysis, and appellate advocacy.
Prior to her roles in higher education, she was a litigator in the areas of labor, employment, and business law in Wisconsin. She is a member of the state bars in both California and Wisconsin. King earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Iowa.
