The All Black Gala celebrates Black history, culture and lived experiences while bringing campus folks and community members together for fun, networking, and learning.
It's a free, semi-formal attire event that takes place 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Cal State Monterey Bay's Otter Student Union (5118 Inter-Garrison Road, Seaside).
The theme this year is "Education is Elevation," and a keynote address will be delivered by George "Conscious" Lee (@theconsiouslee).
Lee is an orator, innovator, educator, and influential content creator with an audience of over 3 million followers across TikTok, IG, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. He was a member of the first African-American duo to become the number one seed in the National Debate Tournament, and in 2022 he was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Social Media Personality.
The Otter Cross Cultural Center, Associated Students of CSUMB, and the Helen Rucker Center for Black Excellence collaborate on the All Black Gala to foster belonging and community amongst various campus populations in order to address campus retention, progression, and graduation.
All proceeds benefit the Helen Rucker Center for Black Excellence. RSVP and parking permits are required.
