Meet the Dean
Dr. James Hussar joined the university from Cal State Fullerton, where he held roles that included professor of Spanish and Portuguese, department chair, and assistant vice president for undergraduate studies.
He holds a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. in Spanish and K-12 teaching credential from Millersville University and a B.A. in Spanish with a certificate in Latin American Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). Whether you are pursuing one of our 11 majors or taking our courses as electives, you’ll find that CAHSS develops deep thinkers, difference makers, and innovators. Our alumni include accomplished filmmakers, artists, musicians, attorneys, public servants, teachers, counselors, and researchers. Whatever path you choose, you’ll learn to lead with the help of CAHSS’ outstanding faculty and staff. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to find your people and your purpose by participating in CAHSS’ many activities and events.
