CalCPA Scholarship Awarded to Brooke Baumgardner and Beth Johnson
November 15, 2019 – Brooke Baumgardner and Beth Johnson were awarded the CalCPA scholarship for 2019 by the San Jose chapter of the Silicon Valley. They are business students in the accounting concentration and were nominated by College of Business faculty for outstanding academics and service.
Brooke and Beth serve as co-presidents of the Accounting Society, which hosts guest speaker meetings each semester as well as the annual Accounting Networking Event. The students also work as Accounting and Finance tutors in the Cooperative Learning Center, where they tutor students in the lower level and intermediate level accounting courses and finance.
Beth also serves as the Treasurer of the Otter Student Union Board of Directors, where she writes policies and attends meetings and tabling events. She is also an Outdoor Leader for the Recreation Department where she facilitates and leads various types of outdoor trips.
Brooke is the CalCPA campus ambassador and Becker Professional Education ambassador. After graduating this spring, she will attend UC Davis to study for a Masters in Professional Accountancy (MPAc). She will be working at Deloitte in Sacramento this summer as an Audit and Assurance Intern.
