Concentrations

Environmental Science, Technology and Policy (ESTP) students concentrate their upper-vision learning in one of three areas: Applied Ecology, Environmental Data Analysis, and Watershed Systems. Concentration names appear on transcripts.

Students study the plants, animals, and ecosystems of the terrestrial, freshwater, and coastal environments of the broader Monterey Bay region. Students build a strong foundation in the ecological principles, field work, technical tools, and analyses that are used in natural resource management, conservation, restoration, and policy. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors as well as admission to graduate school.

Students develop computational and technical skills in data science, quantitative analysis, geographic information systems, and statistics in the context of environmental resource management, conservation, restoration, and policy. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors as well as admission to graduate school.

Students study the geology, hydrology, ecology, and geomorphic processes of the natural and impacted watershed systems of the broader Monterey Bay region. Students develop technical skills in quantitative analysis and geographic information systems and prepare for careers to manage watersheds and water resources in the context of environmental science and policy. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors as well as admission to graduate school.
