Associated Students Programs and Services

Associated Students offers several different scholarships for current students enrolled at CSUMB. The scholarships we currently offer are: AS Housing Scholarship, AS Parking Permit Scholarship, AS Capstone Scholarship, AS Otterly Nourished Sponsorship, and the AS Commuter Scholarship.

Please apply using the AS Scholarship Application, which closes on October 25th, 2026 at 11:59pm.

Scholarship Descriptions

AS Housing Scholarship: $3000 per recipient

Recognizing the needs of our CSUMB students, given the current statewide housing crisis, the Associated Students (AS) has allocated an AS Housing Scholarship for students who demonstrate financial need, academic commitment, and active campus involvement.

Eligibility: 

1. Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time at California State University, Monterey Bay, as an undergraduate (6 units or more) or graduate (3 or more units) student.
2. Current students employed by Associated Students are not eligible to apply.\
3. Residential Advisors (RA) and Community Advisors (excluding CA’s in family housing) are not eligible to apply.
4. Students are encouraged to show they live on or off campus, with a signed housing/rental agreement under their name.
5. Applicants must provide a written statement that expresses their need for financial support with regard for housing needs, as well as any other information to support their request (350-500 words).

AS Commuter Scholarship: $450 per recipient

Acknowledging the need of commuting, the Associated Students (AS) has established the AS Commuter Scholarship to support CSU Monterey Bay students who live off-campus and rely on non-public transportation to campus and demonstrate financial need, academic commitment, and active campus involvement.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time at California State University, Monterey Bay, as an undergraduate (6 units or more) or graduate (3 or more units) student.
2. Current students employed by Associated Students are not eligible to apply.
3. Only applicable to students that live off campus and rely on non-public transportation to campus.
4. Applicants must provide a written statement that expresses their need for financial support with regard for commuting needs as well as any other information to support their request (350-500 words).

AS Capstone Scholarship: $250 per recipient *Sponsored by the Alumni Association*

Considering the financial difficulty that may arise while students accomplish their final academic milestone, the Associated Students (AS) alongside the Alumni Association, has established the AS Capstone Scholarship awarded to students working on their Capstone projects who demonstrate financial need, academic commitment, and active campus involvement.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time at California State University, Monterey Bay, as an undergraduate (6 units or more) or graduate (3 or more units) student.
2. Current students employed by Associated Students are not eligible to apply.
3. CSUMB students currently working on their capstone project.
4. Applicants must provide a written statement that expresses their need for financial support with regard for capstone needs as well as any other information to support their request (350-500 words).
   

AS Otterly Nourished Sponsorship - 4 personalized Hub Boxes

Associated Students (AS), in collaboration with Otter Care, supports students experiencing food insecurity by sponsoring Hub Boxes as a part of our Otterly Nourished Sponsorship. Each recipient will receive four personalized food boxes across two months, including grocery items tailored to their dietary needs, living situation, and food preferences, along with Farmers Market meal vouchers. This program helps students access reliable, nourishing food so they can remain focused on their education.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time at California State University, Monterey Bay, as an undergraduate (6 units or more) or graduate (3 or more units) student.
2. Current students employed by Associated Students are not eligible to apply.
3. Applicants are encouraged to provide a written statement that expresses their need for financial support with regard to food insecurity as well as any other information to support their request (350-500 words). *Optional*

AS Parking Permit Scholarship: Up to $500 per recipient

Understanding the cost associated with on-campus parking, the Associated Students (AS) has established the Parking Permit Scholarship to support students who demonstrate financial need, academic commitment, and active campus involvement. This scholarship provides substantial coverage of the cost of a semester parking permit, enabling greater access to campus resources, classes, and co-curricular activities without the added stress of parking expenses.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time at California State University, Monterey Bay, as an undergraduate (6 units or more) or graduate (3 or more units) student.
2. Current students employed by Associated Students are not eligible to apply.
3. Students must provide proof of purchase that details the amount spent on their parking permit that is dated.
4. Applicants must provide a written statement that expresses their need for financial support with regard for commuting needs as well as any other information to support their request (350-500 words).
