Dean's Leadership Council

Mission

The College of Science Leadership Council Serves as an advisory committee to the Dean of the College of Science, providing feedback and input to assist in the fulfillment of the college's mission to educate tomorrow's scientists, mathematicians, researchers, educators and industry professionals. 

The Leadership Council will provide guidance and perspective to the Dean of the College of Science, while helping to raise the profile of the college, its students and faculty, and other key stakeholders in the local, regional, national and global community. The Council also provides advice to the Dean on philanthropic support for the College of Science.

About the Council Members

The College of Science Leadership Council brings together an accomplished network of leaders from prominent alumni, regulatory affairs, economic development, higher education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, engineering, healthcare, environmental organizations, finance, and public service. Its members include senior executives, founders, innovators, educators, and industry partners who span the region’s most vital sectors—from advanced technology and agribusiness to public policy and community development.

Bringing deep professional expertise and regional insight, Council members serve as strategic advisors and advocates for the College. They are united by a shared commitment to advancing science education and ensuring student success—supporting students’ academic achievement on campus and helping prepare them to thrive in their careers and communities after graduation.

Core Responsibilities

Provide advice and counsel to the COS Dean on strategic planning, curricula, new academic programs, and other programs to ensure they remain relevant to workforce needs.

Act as ambassadors and provide insights on how the COS can enhance the impact of its services to stakeholder groups.

Bridge the gap between academia and the workforce by promoting and providing networking opportunities, student mentorship and career guidance, internship opportunities, research opportunities.

Provide advice and counsel on fundraising strategies and help secure financial resources to support the College of Science.
