Program Structure
- CS Online is a year-round, 24 month program with Fall, Spring, and Summer start terms.
- Students can begin in the Fall, Spring, or Summer, following the same course pathway regardless of the starting term.
- The program consists of 12-15 pre-defined courses totaling 45-51 units (depending on transfer credit).
- Students take one class at a time for 8 weeks each, with the exception of 2-3 terms where students take two classes simultaneously.
- The program has two breaks each year: a short break between Summer & Fall, and a longer break between Fall & Spring.
- Program coordinators automatically pre-register students for courses, eliminating the hassle of self-registration.
Online experience
- Enjoy a primarily self-paced weekly schedule, learning through pre-recorded lectures, assigned readings, and online classroom discussions.
- Students can expect weekly assignments and quizzes.
- Students are required to be online at specific times for course orientations, proctored midterm and final exams, and occasional meetings with professors.
- In alignment with the CSUMB vision, all students are required to participate in a for-credit Service Learning experience (CST 462S). CS Online students can fulfill this requirement online or in-person within their local communities.
- At the conclusion of the program, CS Online students receive the same diploma as on-campus computer science students.
