Stay on track, get ahead or explore something new. Summer at Cal State Monterey Bay offers flexible course options for current students, incoming students and community members.

Summer courses are open to all interested students. Non-CSUMB students may enroll in regular degree-track classes through Open University without formal admission to the university.

Pre-College and College Access Programs

Summer at Cal State Monterey Bay opens doors for learners of all ages. Our pre-college and college access programs support academic growth, leadership development and hands-on exploration in a welcoming, student-centered environment.

Upward Bound supports high school students as they prepare for college admission and success. The program serves students from low-income families and those whose parents do not hold a bachelor’s degree.

Participants receive academic support, mentoring and enrichment opportunities that strengthen college readiness and build confidence for higher education.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Summer Bridge is a transition program for invited first-time freshmen in the EOP. The experience helps students build the academic skills, knowledge and community connections needed for a strong start at Cal State Monterey Bay.

During Summer Bridge, students:

  • Meet mentors and advisors
  • Attend university lectures
  • Participate in workshops and presentations
  • Build community with fellow EOP students

Otter Athletics offers a variety of sports camps for all ages and skill levels. Campers strengthen athletic skills while learning teamwork, leadership and responsibility in a supportive environment.

Camp SEA Lab inspires lifelong excitement and stewardship of our oceans and coastlines. Through hands-on marine science programs, youth, families and educators explore science, education and adventure along the Monterey Bay.

Programs promote environmental responsibility and a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems.

A nonpartisan center for the study of public policy, the Panetta Institute prepares the next generation of leaders for lives of public service. Summer offerings include the Annual Leadership Seminar and other programs focused on civic engagement and policy leadership.

The Institute connects students with real-world policy experience and strengthens their understanding of government and community impact.

The American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) helps students strengthen their English for academic preparation or professional development. Courses are taught by experienced ESL instructors in a supportive learning environment.

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC) offers summer research programs, workshops and events, including the Transfer Student Summer Research Program.

Students work alongside faculty mentors, gain hands-on research experience and prepare for graduate study or professional careers.
