The Otter Student Union (OSU) is proud to host and support a wide variety of events throughout the semester. Many are organized by student organizations, clubs and campus departments. Events often include entertainment, cultural celebrations, academic workshops and more.
Make sure to register through MyRaft for events you’re interested in attending. For questions about a specific event, please reach out directly to the group listed as the organizer.
Every event is a chance to try something new, meet people, or take a fun break from class. You might find a new hobby, enjoy free food, or join a celebration. From music and art to games and giveaways, events help you feel more connected and make the most of your time at CSUMB. Show up, get involved, and enjoy the experience.

Otter Thursday is a weekly campus tradition that brings the Cal State Monterey Bay community together to celebrate school pride. Every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., students, faculty and staff gather at the Otter Student Union to enjoy music, activities, giveaways and free food. Each week features something new, creating a lively and welcoming space for everyone to connect.
If rain or bad weather rolls in, the celebration continues indoors in the OSU lobby on the second floor.
The energy of Otter Thursday extends beyond the afternoon. Participants are encouraged to bring that same spirit to Thursday night home games and cheer on CSUMB Athletics. Whether you’re a dedicated sports fan or simply looking for a fun way to spend your Thursday, Otter Thursday is the perfect way to engage, connect and show your CSUMB pride.
Want to table at a future Otter Thursday?
Campus organizations and departments simply need to fill out our Otter Thursday Participation Request Format least two weeks in advance of preferred dates. Once approved, requestors will be contacted and will receive additional information regarding next steps. Financial support is always appreciated. If funding is available to support a part of Otter Thursday (games, food, etc.) please note your interest in the form and contact Jeff Rensel at jrensel@csumb.edu.
Back by paw-pular demand—take a break and join us for Blue at the OSU for some relaxation and positive vibes with therapy dogs! Dr. L and her sweet therapy dog, Blue, will be in your Otter Student Union on select days this semester for a little stress relief. Stop by and enjoy some furry-friendly wellness!

If you'd like to request Blue for an event or class, feel free to contact Dr. Lisa Leininger at lleininger@csumb.edu. Blue is certified through Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, and we can provide a questionnaire for consent from students in classes.
